I was surprised when I noticed the same at my apple store. I got all of the display models’ phone numbers and every few days I’d see how the customers were doing. The employees at our local store finally found out about this, and locked all of the SIM cards so they couldn’t make or receive calls.
P.S.: Maybe we should start a directory of the display models.
