Grocery Store Savings Cards

November 28th, 2006

Most supermarkets have “savings cards” which they offer to customers to get discounts on certain items. I hate these cards because these cards dont really save me money, needlessly invade my privacy, and take up space in my wallet. However, if you don’t use these cards you are overpaying for your groceries. My solution is to either use the “store card” or say I forgot my card and give them a common fake phone number.(ie 555-555-5555 or 123-456-7890) This has worked every time for me, but I sometimes have to try a few different common fake phone numbers.

but they don’t only give you special sales with the card during the hollidays you get points and use them to get like turkeys and hams and stuff. the points don’t add up if your just using fake numbers. and you don’t have to keep them in your wallet just put in there when you go shopping.

joe - One concern with these cards is that they allow the store to track your grocery store purchases. This is an unnecessary breach of privacy in my opinion.
