Automatic Response

I hate any sort of greeting that I can not answer back with “alright”, “ok”, or “good”. The reason why I hate these greetings is because I automatically respond with one of my automatic responses, and it does not make sense at all.
Joe: Hows it going, Kris?
Kris: Ok.
Pete: What’s happening, Kris?
Kris: Alright.
I wonder what Pete thinks when I say that.
